Our June trip planning for the midwest is at full speed now. Rental car, check. Hotel reservations, check. Now we are working on supplies for the pups and our route. Trying to decide where we will stay over for the half way point. We always have a blast when we go up to North Georgia, so we may rent a cabin for a night or two and relax before pushing on to St. Louis. We scheduled for about 9 days and you really need it with dogs and a location this far away. A couple of things we always plan for:
1. Plan to stop every 2 hours to stretch the legs and let the dogs get some fresh air. This is good for everyone. We always find a nice place outside major cities that have large grassy areas to walk around in for about 30 minutes.
2. Always get some water when you stop to eat for the dogs. We just give it to them out of the cup, although you could bring a bowl.
3. Have any medicine the dogs may take handy so they don’t miss anything.
4. Be sure to strap them in with harnesses or seatbelts!
