The Human and Canine Bond

It never fails to amaze and fascinate me how close a human and canine can become and how much they end up relying on each other. There was this show on TV, I think it was on Nat Geo, that showed how dogs are trained to do so many jobs as well as provide assistance to those that need it. It detailed the training of Border Patrol dogs to dogs that are being trained to sniff out cancer. And they were starting some of these dogs on rigorous training when they were just 4 weeks old. This one dog would always leave its owners side when she was getting low on insulin, and now that is her warning that she needs to take a shot of insulin before health issues arise. So amazing. I was reading this one story today that was sad but I think showed a great bond between a guy and his dog. Check it out here.

And here is a happier story for you about a guide dog and his owner.

We woke up this morning and it was pouring out! I had to force Chloe to go outside to even go to the bathroom. Actually, I had to walk out with her with an umbrella. It started storming early in the morning and Chloe was walking from one side of our bed to the other because of the thunder. She is a chicken. Last time she jumped straight into bed and stood between Alisha and me. So no walk this morning. We did 2 miles tonight to bring us up to 65.5 miles.
