More than half of our pets are overweight!

I read this article online today  at the Huffington Post about cats and dogs and the obesity problem we have with them in the United States. The story talks about the 2 major contributors to animal obesity and what we can do to fight it. Yes, unfortunately, one of them is the pet owner. Come on people! Dogs thrive on walking and playing outside, chasing toys and wrestling. They didn’t always just sit around in a 1500 square foot house and be let outside to do the deal, then come back in. The article also goes on to list a couple very good websites for calculating the recommended caloric intake and calories by brand of food. I am going to add those to our links in the next day or two. I know Chanel can’t go above 1000 calories a day without

gaining weight, even though we walk a ton. Mens Health magazine once had an article featured about how having a dog can help you lose weight since you have to walk them. So lets get to it and let the hounds hit the road!

Looking back towards our house
Alisha and I did another 2 miles tonight after dinner for a total today of 4 miles. We are up to 33 miles so far since we started counting a couple weeks ago. We are racking up the miles!! If you aren’t in the habit of walking your dog(s) at least once a day, why not make some small goals to get out there and get some miles on the sneaks. Not only is it good for the pups, it is good for us too.
